Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 August 2026. This policy explains how nzclubs.co.nz handles personal information. Read it alongside our Terms of Use.
1. Who holds your information
nzclubs.co.nz is operated by The Community Limited (“we”, “us”, “The Community”). Personal information collected through this website and related email support is managed by The Community Limited. Contact details are on our Contact page.
2. What we collect
- Account data: such as name, email address, and role when you register, claim a club, or sign in.
- Google Sign-In: if you choose Continue with Google, we receive your Google account email address and basic profile information (name and profile photo) from Google. We do not receive or store your Google password.
- Club listings: text and images you choose to publish about a club or group.
- Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, and cookies used to keep you signed in and to understand aggregate traffic patterns.
- Communications: messages you send us by email or through forms (including club claim requests).
3. Why we use it
We process personal information to:
- Provide and secure the service (including authentication and dashboards).
- Create or sign you into your NZ Clubs account when you use Google Sign-In, using only the email and basic profile data Google provides for that purpose.
- Show club listings to visitors as intended by the listing owner.
- Cross-promote club-related events and listing details on related platforms operated by The Community Limited, including displaying NZ Clubs listings on thecommunity.co.nz events where applicable.
- Respond to enquiries and improve the site’s usability and reliability.
- Meet legal obligations and protect users against fraud or abuse.
4. Google user data
When you sign in with Google, nzclubs.co.nz requests the email and profile scopes. We use that Google user data solely to authenticate you and populate your account name and avatar. We do not sell Google user data or use it for advertising. We do not share it with third parties except as needed to operate authentication (for example our hosting provider processing data on our instructions) or as otherwise described in this policy for The Community Limited’s network of sites.
5. Legal bases (where GDPR-style rules apply)
If you are in the European Economic Area or UK, we rely on performance of a contract, legitimate interests (running a safe directory and improving the product), and consent where we ask for it (for example optional marketing). You may withdraw consent without affecting processing that already occurred.
6. Cross-site data & our network
The Community Limited operates a network of related New Zealand platforms, including nzclubs.co.nz, thecommunity.co.nz, whats-on.co.nz, and artists.org.nz, and may operate other partner or regional sites under the same organisation. User data across this network is managed by The Community Limited.
We cross-promote content between these platforms. In particular, club listings and related event information you create or publish on nzclubs.co.nz may be synced, displayed, or promoted as events on thecommunity.co.nz (and, where relevant, other sites in the network) so audiences can discover clubs and activities more widely. The same may apply in reverse when content originates on a sister site and is shown here.
Where we share data across the network, we do so only for operating and promoting those services: for example publishing public listing details, keeping shared calendars and directories consistent, authenticating related accounts where applicable, and administering the platforms. We do not sell your personal information. Each site may have its own privacy notice; this policy covers personal information collected or processed in connection with nzclubs.co.nz, including sharing described here.
7. Sharing with others
Besides sharing within The Community Limited’s network as described above, we use service providers (such as hosting, email, and analytics) who process data on our instructions. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security. We do not sell your personal information.
8. Retention
We keep account and listing data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for backups, disputes, and legal compliance. Technical logs may be retained for a shorter rolling period.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures appropriate to the service. No online transmission is perfectly secure; please use a strong password and protect your devices.
10. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights. You may also complain to your local privacy regulator.
11. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies for session management and preferences. You can control cookies through your browser; disabling some cookies may limit sign-in or features.
12. Children
The site is not directed at children under 13. If you believe we have collected a child’s information without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
13. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, a notice on the site.
