A Closer Look at Katikati Tramping Club

At the Katikati Tramping Club, members dive into a variety of outdoor activities that celebrate New Zealand's breathtaking environment. Our trips cater to different levels of experience, starting with relaxed family walks along easy tracks and progressing to more demanding multi-day tramps on and off track in challenging terrain. We organise a trip every second weekend, keeping most destinations within easy driving distance of Katikati for convenience. Occasionally, we head further afield when the spot is truly special, and mid-week trips happen on an ad hoc basis to suit availability. For those seeking extended adventures, our regular 3 or 4 day weekend trips provide a fixed base about half a day's drive from Katikati, allowing for multiple day explorations without constant travel.

Tramping with us goes beyond physical activity—it's a wonderful opportunity to forge new friendships and connect with like-minded people. The social side of our outings is just as vital as the hikes themselves, fostering a sense of community among participants. We actively encourage new members to join, making it easy for newcomers to get involved in this rewarding pursuit of tramping in New Zealand.

Meetings are held at 7.30pm on the second Thursday each month at the Presbyterian Church of St Paul's, located at the corner of Main and Mulgan Streets in northern Katikati. Entrance is via Mulgan Street. Each gathering begins with a business meeting, followed by engaging presentations from club members or invited guests, offering insights and inspiration for upcoming adventures.
