Our pay-as-you-go system keeps it flexible, with a minimal annual subscription ensuring accessibility for dedicated trampers. Members appreciate the priority booking until 5:00pm Monday before each outing, creating a welcoming space for like-minded explorers to share stories and build fitness. Whether you're tackling 3-5 hour hikes or enjoying the rhythm of group travel, the club offers rewarding tramping experiences that suit those with reasonable fitness and some prior hill-walking ability, like ascending from Princess Margaret Hospital to the Sugarloaf or the Bridle Path.

Where to Find Us

Conveniently based in Bishopdale, Christchurch, the Bishopdale Tramping Club starts each Wednesday adventure from the car park on Raleigh Street, Bishopdale, Christchurch 8053, New Zealand. The bus departs at 8:30am (or occasionally 8:00am), providing easy access for locals in the Canterbury region. Returning by about 5pm, these outings allow you to immerse in nearby natural beauty without the hassle of driving. An alternative pickup and dropoff point is available weekly, tailored to the day's tramp, enhancing convenience for participants from surrounding areas. This central location in Bishopdale makes it simple to join, whether you're a nearby resident or travelling within Christchurch, ensuring smooth integration into your routine for regular tramping enjoyment.

To maintain full membership, all members complete 10 tramps per year from 1st April to 31st March, while new members qualify after 3 tramps, limited to the main option. This structure supports steady participation in our hill-focused activities, keeping the group dynamic and prepared for Canterbury's varied terrain.
