The Alexandra Bridge Club Story

Step into the purpose-built clubrooms of the Alexandra Bridge Club, designed specifically for keen bridge players seeking a dedicated space to hone their skills and enjoy the game. Opened on 30th October 2019, these modern facilities replaced our previous location in the historic town of Clyde, which we had owned since 1982. What makes our venue special is its focus on fostering a strong, active community of bridge enthusiasts, with sessions held three times a week: Monday and Wednesday evenings, and Friday mornings. During the summer, we extend the fun with Holiday Bridge on Wednesday evenings throughout January.

Our club runs two tournaments each year, attracting dedicated players from nearby areas like Invercargill, Dunedin, Queenstown, and Wanaka, as well as farther afield including Christchurch and the North Island. Membership remains steady and vibrant, reflecting the enduring appeal of bridge as a stimulating card game that combines strategy, partnership, and social interaction. Casual players and visitors are always welcome to join in, with sessions costing just $5.00 – making it an accessible way to experience the thrill of competitive and relaxed play in a supportive environment.

The Alexandra Bridge Club's roots trace back to 1972, when a small group of enthusiastic card players established it amid this inspiring landscape.

Our move to Alexandra in January 2019 deepened our connection to this dynamic community, embedding the club within a region rich in history and natural allure. From the gold rush heritage of nearby Clyde to the contemporary vibrancy of Central Otago's attractions, our location enhances the bridge experience, offering players a chance to unwind after exploring the outdoors.
